Spring Session at Callaway Gardens & Resort

I first met the Thompson family in the Fall of 2021. They were one of the first families I had met since moving to Fort Benning, GA. I was a mom with a camera and taking pictures of my boys with the idea of maybe someday I could open my own photography business. I had designed a cute little Fall setup with a little pumpkin stand and vintage tractor. Before tearing it all down I decided to share photos of my little setup in our neighborhood Facebook group offering to take a few photos of any families with little ones that would like to stop by. I had eight families sign up that day! Success, I thought! Picture day came around and only two of those eight families showed up, the Thompson family being one!

Emma was riding in the stroller. She had bright red hair clipped back with a little white bow and the biggest blue eyes. With bare feet she got down from the stroller and started wondering around. I started quickly pictures because I knew I may only have a short time before she lost interest. But she continued to play and give me the sweetest little smiles while I snapped away and talked to her parents, Katie and Ty. Not long after, I got a message from Katie asking if I would mind taking their family photos that year. I said yes, of course! I spent the rest of the day cleaning my camera and practicing family posing directions. I was so excited but also so nervous! Since then I have also been able to capture Emma turning one and smashing her cake and doughnuts. I've captured a special mommy and daughter session where Katie and Emma wore the perfect matching dresses. And now family pictures for the second year in a row. I love being able to witness and capture the Thompson family grow. They are so sweet and kind. I'm so happy they showed up that Fall day. Since that Fall day in 2021 the Thompsons have turned into more than just neighbors but good friends and our littles love to play together.

"Four little ducks went quack, quack, quack"

As we walked from the tulip garden to the beach Emma started singing the nursery rhyme "Five Little Ducks". She could see the geese sitting in the water. As she sang she looked at her parents and they immediately joined in. She smiled and continued to sing, building confidence in her song as she continued. I wish I could have captured that little moment on camera. It was one of my favorite little memories that I will store away from their family session at Callaway Resort and Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA.
