Before the session, I talk with families about their pet’s personality so we can plan the best way to include them. Since they are usually not needed the entire sessionThis generally means having a helper bring the pet in just for their portion of photos, or letting them explore the studio or home setting until they feel comfortable.
Safety is always the top priority. Babies are positioned securely, often in a parent’s arms or swaddled in a safe spot while pets are brought close once they’re calm and settled. I use gentle guidance and plenty of time so we can capture natural, relaxed interactions rather than forced poses.
Including pets can be incredibly meaningful for families, and I love helping parents create images that reflect their whole world including the furry members who’ve been there long before the new baby arrived.
