Welcoming a new baby into the world is magical, but those newborn days can also feel overwhelming. As a mama of three and a Columbus, GA newborn photographer, I know firsthand how certain products can make life so much smoother. Recently, I asked my Instagram community to share the baby items they absolutely loved and couldn’t imagine those first months without — and I’m adding a few of my own favorites too.

Think of this as a gentle guide from one mama to another: a mix of real-life wisdom, thoughtful recommendations, and products that can help you focus less on the stress and more on soaking up those sweet newborn snuggles.

1. Nurture & The Manual Glider

Your nursing or rocking chair will become your second home during those early months. One mama shared how much she loved the Nurture & The Manual Glider for its roomy seat and high back — perfect for tall partners who also want to be part of the rocking and feeding moments. It’s comfortable enough for long nighttime feedings, and it’s a place you’ll treasure for bedtime stories for years to come.

2. Boon Trove Silicone Manual Breast Pump

If you’re breastfeeding or pumping, these hands-free milk collectors are a lifesaver. You simply tuck them into your bra on the opposite side while feeding, and they quietly collect every precious drop — no cords, no noise, no complicated parts. It’s one of those simple tools that makes a big difference without taking over your countertop.

3. Snuggle Me Lounger

Perfect for supervised awake time, the Snuggle Me Lounger hugs your baby in a soft, cushioned nest that mimics the feeling of being held. It’s lightweight and easy to carry from room to room, which means your baby can be close to you while you’re folding laundry, answering emails, or sipping that long-awaited cup of coffee.

4. A Stroller with Bassinet Attachment

The Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller 2.0 was the most recommended stroller by all my newborn mamas — and for good reason. They love how lightweight it is, its sleek and modern design, and the thoughtful option for it to grow not only as their little one grows but as their family grows too. In those first months, pairing it with the bassinet attachment means your baby can nap in a safe, flat position while you enjoy fresh air or run errands. It’s an investment piece that can truly serve your family for years.

5. The Baby Bjorn Bouncer

This one holds a special place in my heart because I’ve had mine since my first baby — and all three of my children adored it. It’s lightweight, folds flat for storage, and is so easy to move from room to room. Whether you’re making dinner, playing with older siblings, or enjoying a few minutes with a book, this bouncer keeps baby close and content.

6. My Brest Friend Pillow

Breastfeeding can take a toll on your back, neck, and arms. The My Brest Friend pillow wraps around your body and offers steady support, helping your baby stay in the perfect position for feeding. It’s firm enough to keep baby from sinking down, which can make latching easier and feeding more comfortable for both of you.

7. NANIT Baby Monitor

Peace of mind is everything in those newborn months, and the NANIT delivers. It offers a clear view of your baby’s crib, sleep tracking, and the ability to check in from anywhere on your phone. It’s like having an extra set of eyes and ears, allowing you to relax a little more during naps and bedtime.

8. Hatch White Noise Machine

This is one of the few products I’ve bought for all three of my children. It’s such a vital part of our daily routine that it even makes the “must pack” list when we go on vacation. The Hatch allows you to change colors, choose from different sounds, and even program alarms. At night, we set it to play gentle white noise and glow softly, and in the morning it turns green and plays bird sounds — my boys know this is their signal that it’s okay to get out of bed. It’s small but mighty when it comes to creating a predictable, soothing environment for sleep.

9. Newborn 2-Way Zipper Pajamas

After just a few days with my first, I had had enough of anything that involved snaps. I was exhausted, recovering from a c-section, and when it’s 2 a.m. and the most sleep you’ve gotten in a row totals less than three hours, fumbling in the dark with snaps requires more energy than it’s worth. My favorite brand quickly became Burt’s Bees — they have a good amount of stretch without being too thin, and while they run a little big, I actually loved that because it gave my boys extra time in them (and we all know how quickly babies grow!). Plus, their patterns are absolutely adorable. That two-way zipper makes middle-of-the-night diaper changes so much quicker and easier, which is something your tired self will thank you for.

10.Moby Baby Wrap

I was gifted my Moby Wrap while I was still pregnant with my first, and I remember feeling so excited to use it—though honestly, also a little intimidated by all that fabric. It’s a long, soft, breathable piece of cotton, and in those early days, it felt like learning origami for the first time. But after watching a few tutorials and a bit of practice, I quickly found my rhythm, and soon it became one of my favorite ways to hold my baby close. The snug fit felt like a warm hug for both of us, and I loved knowing he could hear my heartbeat while I went about my day. It was a lifesaver for those moments when he just wanted to be close, and I still needed two hands free. I used it well into the toddler stage—until around 12 months—and it held up beautifully through countless washes. If you’re looking for something that keeps your baby close while also giving you freedom, this wrap is pure magic.
