The Ice Rink at Columbus Civic Center has public skating available for visitors of all ages. Visitors can rent ice skates at the rink, and group discounts are available. You can even plan a birthday party here! In addition to parties and public skating times, the Ice Rink at Columbus Civic Center offers skating lessons for all ages, both for hockey and for figure skating. Families can check availability and register their children online. 


Oxbow Meadows


3535 South Lumpkin Road, Columbus, GA 31903


Oxbow Meadows is located at the southern end of the Columbus RiverWalk and offers views of West Central Georgia and the Chattahoochee Valley. Families can enjoy a wide variety of plants and animals here, as well as exhibits, displays, and nature trails. Oxbow Meadows also offers onsite hands-on programs that teach kids about the ecology of the region. This center also includes a classroom/laboratory, an 86-seat auditorium, instructional media, the Natural History Discovery Center, indoor and outdoor exhibits of reptiles and fish, a pollinator garden, bee hives, and environmental art. 


Coca-Cola Space Science Center

Coca-Cola Space Science Center welcomes young space explorers, with staff that are enthusiastic about teaching little ones about the universe. This science center includes tours and a planetarium. At the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, kids can enjoy a sky tour and planetarium show in the Omnisphere Theater, take a tour of NASA Space Shuttle artifacts, test their piloting and driving skills on interactive exhibits, explore exhibits that feature Apollo memorabilia, and shop at the Stargazers Gift Shop. 


Columbus Botanical Garden


3603 Weems Road, Columbus, GA 31909


Columbus Botanical Garden is located on 40 acres of green space in north Columbus, with affordable admission for families. This is an attractive destination and colorful setting for photography, events, and community learning. One of their current exhibits is Art of Nature: Walk on the Wild Side, a 25th anniversary art installation that features animal topiaries. Kids of all ages can enjoy wandering through the gardens looking at the many kinds of plants and flowers. 


National Civil War Naval Museum


1002 Victory Drive, Columbus, GA 31901


The National Civil War Naval Museum in Columbus features the largest surviving Confederate warship as well as wreckage from the CSS Chattahoochee. This museum has exhibits that include replicas of warships, an immersive dockside panoramic exhibit of Plymouth, and many artifacts. The museum has a large collection of flags from ships, coastal forts, and signal flags. This museum hosts many events throughout the year, including museum theater and historic character interpretation. This is a fun place to visit for kids who love seeing history come to life.

The Columbus Museum is the perfect place to celebrate creativity and culture, with American art, regional history, peaceful gardens, and much more. This museum will delight visitors of all ages and interests, from art enthusiasts to history buffs to nature lovers. Best of all - admission is free! One of their recent exhibits is Silver Clouds, an amazing interactive installation from the Andy Warhol Museum. This exhibit includes a room full of floating pillow-shaped balloons that float enchantingly in the space. This unique installation is enhanced by Warhol’s Cow Wallpaper, the first in Warhol’s series of designs.
